I went to city council last night…

A lot of people here do NOT support Israel. These SAME people that care so much about people they will never even meet complain a LOT about the problematic homelessness in our city at these meetings…

I pray about these meetings before I go and the Holy Spirit always inspires me to speak up…

Sometimes it’s reading scripture…

Sometimes just testimony or poetry…

This time I wrote a poem for them and read it during public comment…

I edited it a little but mostly this is the same…

Feel free to comment about the conflict in Israel or my poem!

Here’s my poem:

“Why Do What You Say?”

I hear the cries

The desperate cries

For lives

On the other side

Of the world

When the very same eyes

Never even waste a tear

Or one minute of their time

On the lives

Of the people

That are probably

Right outside of here

Drowning their sorrows

Numbing their fears

Because nobody even cares

Because nobody even dares

To show them the kind of love

That they really need

To help them get off the streets

So how are these people any better

Than the ones they hate

When they complain

About corrupt leaders

And war-mongers?

If death is right here

On the sidewalk, on the boardwalk

Even on their doorstep…

Why should anyone care what THEY think?

Or do what THEY say?

Shalom!
